[Part 3] BONUS Mural in Poughkeepsie, NY for O+ Festival
Oaxacan owner of Poncho Villa on Main St. in Poughkeepsie and supporter of the arts, Ariel, was kind enough to let me grace his wall with another mural
Sticking to a theme that's fitting of his heritage I chose to paint a mural in homage to Oaxacan painter and muralist Rufino Tamayo, an amazing artist who passed away back in 1992 Here are a few examples of his work:
With no preliminary sketch, just channeling the wave length of Rufino's work I got started..
First with a base coat of black and a quick sketch to get ideas flowing
One of the perks of working on the street is you never know who is going to come up and talk to you. While painting this wall a photographer and musician named T.J. Santiago said hello and asked if he could take some photos, I happily obliged, and with a fish eye lens in hand these were some of the moments captured
Thank you T.J. for the photos!
Only a few hours later and we're all finished!
Another BIG THANK YOU to the O+ Team, Corene for bringing refreshments and lunch, Ariel for the wallspace & dinner, T.J. for the photos, and the crazy old lady shouting obscenities and racial slurs from her second story window across the street alllllllll day long!
